M9 The first entirely multimedia Italian Museum opens in Mestre

M9 is an urban requalification project of the City of Mestre entirely funded by the Fondazione di Venezia. The cornerstone of the project, the 20th Century Multimedia Museum, is the first entirely multimedia museum in Italy, and it opened its doors to the public on 2 December last. Divided into eight thematic areas spread over the two floors of the iconic building designed the Berlin architectural studio Sauerbruch Hutton, M9 is an entirely multimedia museum, without any objects, entirely comprised of video, photographic, graphic and documentary materials from over 100 Italian archives. Karmachina, together with Engineering Associates, designed the visitor experience for the first section “The way we were and are. Demographic and social structures” and section 6 “Res Publica.
