An immersive environment tells the story of the Venetian Walls of Bergamo

In the new Museo delle Mura in Bergamo, through immersive multimedia installations and physical testimonies, the narration becomes an experience that brings to life the construction of the Walls, a stone diamond made of history and beauty, still a symbol of Bergamo today.

At the heart of the new museum space, housed within Porta Sant’Agostino, the multimedia installation designed by Karmachina in collaboration with Studio Dune takes visitors on a journey to discover the feat of Bergamo’s Venetian Walls.

Set against the backdrop of the Italian Wars, the key figures, innovations, projects, and construction come to life in an immersive story told through voice, images, and music. A century of history, twenty-seven years of construction, and over one hundred and fifty images and documents from more than thirty archives form the basis of an animation where content takes center stage and new technologies serve as the medium.

The large projection screens evoke the characteristic tripartite arches of the city gates: gates suspended against an abstract backdrop which, thanks to moving images, become windows into history.

The graphic animation enhances the extraordinary collection of heterogeneous materials: maps, treatises, drawings, paintings, and modern aerial footage. Lines and graphic signs serve as a guiding thread, in a compositional language that ensures coherence and visual depth to the narrative.

Completing the installation, the soundtrack by composer Emiliano Bagnato evokes the atmosphere of the era, thanks to an evocative combination of sound design and original music inspired by Renaissance sounds.
